The Anthony Express win the first AnnualRick Marx Memorial Tag Team Tournament

Saturday, January 17th, history was made as the first-ever Rick Marx Memorial Tag Team Tournament was held.

Pro Wrestling Mid-South presented the eight-team tournament at the Herb Welch Wrestleplex in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

The night featured several outstanding battles, with The Faculty, The Headliners, The Hunters, PLE and The Tornado, The Troublemakers, DisGraceland, The Anthony Express, and the Sons of Destruction all competing for tournament glory.

The Anthony Express faced a challenging road to the trophy. Their opening-round matchup against The Faculty—Star Athlete Andrew Thompson and Professor Jacob Edwin—was a hard-fought, back-and-forth contest.

In the next round, The Anthony Express squared off against their longtime rivals, The Troublemakers, the 2025 Tag Team of the Year. The team of Southern Junior Heavyweight Champion Rob Danger and Simply Bad Chad Austin pushed the pace with relentless pressure, frequent tags, and their trademark tactics, including more than a little rule-breaking when necessary.

In the finals, the Mid-South Tag Team Champions, The Anthony Express—“The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony and 2025 Freedom Cup winner Xavier Anthony—faced the AIWF World Tag Team Champions, the Sons of Destruction, consisting of 2025 Wrestler of the Year David Jason Rose and the Uber Destroyer. The match was nothing short of epic.

Following the announcement of The Anthony Express as tournament winners and the presentation of the trophy, they invited Rick “The Maker” Marx’s sister into the ring. The team spoke with her and thanked everyone in attendance for supporting the event.

It was also announced that the Rick Marx Memorial Tag Team Tournament will continue as an annual event. Congratulations to The Anthony Express on their victory, and may Rick Marx rest in peace. His legacy will be preserved far into the future.
