HUNTINGTON, New York — August 16, 2025 — In a seismic moment at NWA 77th Anniversary Show held at The Paramount in Huntington, Silas Mason—ringed as “Thrillbilly”—shocked the wrestling world by defeating defending champion Thom Latimer to capture the illustrious NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, also known as the coveted “Ten Pounds of Gold”.

A Battle of Brawn and Resolve

From the opening bell, the match was a brutal grind, pitting Latimer’s iron will and seasoned technique against Mason’s raw, southern-fried power. The reigning champion targeted Mason’s midsection with surgical precision, but the “Thrillbilly” refused to relent—soaking up the offense and powering back with shockwave-inducing strikes that had the crowd roaring.

The Turning Point

Late in the match, Mason countered one of Latimer’s trademark maneuvers, unleashing a thunderous power slam that sent Latimer reeling. Not content to simply control the moment, Mason followed with his devastating finisher—pinning Thom Latimer for the three-count and igniting a fervent reaction from fans in attendance.

A New Era Begins

With the music blaring and the spotlight shining, Mason stood tall in the center of the ring, the weight of the championship belt draped over his shoulder. It was a symbolic torch-passing moment—ushering in what promises to be a new era for the NWA with Thrillbilly Silas Mason perched atop the mountain.
